1. How long does it take for an application to be approved for registration?
It takes about one year and a half to two years.
2. What documents and information are required for the filing of an application?
1) Power of Attorney. In general, Power needs no notarization and legalization.
2) Applicant's name and address in English and Chinese languages. If the applicant has never filed any application in
China and does not have a name and address in Chinese language, the applicant can authorize us to prepare the
name and address in Chinese language.
3) If the applicant is an individual, in addition to the name and address in English and Chinese languages, a copy of
the applicant's identification card and the identification number are required.
4) Items of the goods or services covered by the mark.
5) Mark sample. If colors are claimed, eight samples of the mark in color and one sample in black and white are
required. The size of the sample must be between 5x5cm and 10x10cm.
6) To claim a priority date, the priority application number and priority country must be supplied. The documents for a priority claim can be submitted either together with an application or within three months after the filing of an application.
3. What actions can an applicant take after a trademark application has been rejected?
After a trademark application has been rejected, the applicant can file an application for review, with
arguments and supporting materials, with the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board within fifteen
days after the rejection date.
